In Kobe, it was hot and humid yesterday. Though the heat is not severe as usual year, I felt the ”atomosphere" of summer season.
A half year has passed since ”the 2nd Hyogo Youth Sumit" was held. And since the Korean students visited Japan.
I remember it sometimes snowed in Kyoto.
By the way, I reviewed my diary on JEARN SNS and realized. To my surprise, the number of the access to an article, "Korean students, welcome to Japan!" http://sns.jearn.jp/blog/blog.php?key=415 was more than 700.
I wonder who and/or what kind of people read . Then two events,Hyogo Youth Sumit and Korea-Japanese Youth exchange are held this autumn again.

The day before, small earthquake had happend around 23. I was in Shinkobe, but I didn't feel any quake at all.
I realized earthquake will happen again. And in the morning I explained to them the green indication of exit in case.
This day, I took them to the DRI, the place for the NDYS forum. (Natural Disaster Youth Summit)
As I wrote before, we had visited there on the 1st day. At that time I'd lead them to Eastern building by mistake. Again I err. That made them laughed at me. :-(
Anyway, I took them to the conference room, and introduced them to the coordinator, Ms. Okamoto and Ms. Naya.
It was surprising for me that the room was very nice and that equipment are also well. The place was connected with Taiwan and Russia thanks to the system of television conference. I was also interested in the poster session. The maps shows where is dangerous in disaser.
The 5 students were preparing the presentation in the afternoon. They seemed enthusiastic. I thought they must be good students.
After the lunch, I had something to prepare for th Youth Summit the next day. I must leave there.
But I could watch their presentation, Do you know why?
That's thanks to Ustream. The forum is broadcasted through Ustream. And that enabled me to watch in the office of JEARN.
Today's ICT is great! 【前半】防災世界子ども会議 神戸フォーラム2011 http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12315262 【後半】防災世界子ども会議 神戸フォーラム2011 http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12317362 (The students show up in【後半】around 15:00)
They didn't look nervous. And presentation was good. Good preparation made good presentation. Well done!
After the Forum, they came to Kobe Center for Oversea Migration and Cultural Interactiohn. JEARN office is in it. A party was held for them. The participants were JEARN staffs, of course, two students of volunteer group of Kobe University, and American woman(These three are the volunteer member for the Youth Summit).
We had Sushi, Osashimi, Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki, and so on. We enjoyed chatting. After the dinner we had Korean students think about presentation of Korea for children.
They were very kind to help us for the Hyogo Youth Summit. Thank you very much!!]]>サミット写真(高校生・おとな)

Last Friday, Junuary 28th we had excursion to Kyoto. Ms.Fukui and I lead Korean students.
I got to Sannomiya Stn at Eight o'clock. But I was the last man who arrived there. I felt sorry...
We went to Kinkakuji temple by Hankyu Line and Bus. I like the atmosphere of the temple or Shrine in Kyoto.
We took pictures in front of the Golden Pavilion.
We could enjoy not only the garden, but also buying charms, throwing coins, and buying omikuji. (I found the vending machine of Omikuji in Korean for the first time. )
When we were leaving Kinkakuji, it began to snow. I felt special atmosphere of Kyoto's winter.
We took bus again to go to Kyoto University. I'm dissappointed with the tower of clock(One of the symble of this University) being renovated. But the cafeteria in front of it,”Camphora” was good. We enjoyed lunch less expensive than the restaurant and cafeteria in downtown of Kyoto.
We could also enjoy chatting. The student told me his host family made him lunchbox and that was impressive for him, , They went shopping in Sannomiya and so on.
I felt happy because they had a good time with Host families or the students of Fukiai. The host families must be very kind to them , I thought.
After the Lunch we were able to enter the university library. It was good experience for them.
We went to Kiyomizudera. From the bus stop, it was about ten-minutes-walk. In the temple, there were various spots and we enjoyed them. As it got fine, the view from the temple got very good.
On the way from temple, we enjoyed shopping or having free samples lol. (I enjoyed ice cream of Green Tea.)
We walked so much that everyone slept on the train. I should have take bus, sorry.
6 Koreans-5 students and an attendant- came to Kobe. They visit Japan in order to the cultural exchange in Fukiai High school of Kobe, to attend the NDYS forum, and to participate Hyogo Youth Summit. These are planned by JEARN.
As I am a staff of JEARN, I went to the Airport to meet them. I've not spoken English for a while , so my speech ability in English might be poor. But we could made each other in English.
We took them from the Airport to Kobe, without accidents but I made my Phone a little crack, lol. And we enjoyed lunch and chat in the cafeteria of JICA.
They said "Japan is famous for Manga or music. for example "ONE PIECE" "Shin-chan" "X-Japan",and "ELLEGARDEN" ".
After the lunch and a little orientation, we visited Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, museum of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake memorial. http://www.dri.ne.jp/english/index.html
-----------------------------------
I've been familiar with Kobe City for five year, since entering Kobe university. But It is the first time to visit there.
In the museum, I was so shocked than I expected.
1.17 theater showed us how that great earthquake destroyed the city. It was as if the scenery I actually know had been ruining. How fragile the "civilization" was! , I felt.
Some of my friends also suffered that earthquke. I can't imagine they were in such a catastrophe. And It is very difficult to comment.
The display which shows the damage and reconstruction , we looked at. Some items of them made me depressed.
However I also felt the strength of the people.
The volunteer guide told me,"At that time , teacher made children musical instrument. Because S/he thought there used no recreation for children." and showed the drum made with a parts of desk, for example.
Other volunteer staff said"That earthquake is culture. " That means we mustn't let that memory fade, remember that earthquake as a culture. The bond of the people and the culture is the source of the strength, I thought. I found the reason that building's name is including the word "Hito(in Japanese) " or "human ".
The staffs were very kind and the explanation was very good. Thank you very much. On the 1st floor we looked at posters and postcards that related with protection against disaster.
I would like the students to tell me what they felt .
-----------------------------------
We left the museum and see several students of Fukiai High School, who are also host brother/sisters. After a little explanation and self-introductions, the Korea students and host brother/sisters were talking friendlily. Understanding each other interculturally is easy for today's Korean and Japanese high school students, I supposed.
We taked pictures , and they seemed very friendly.
When Korean students leave, I addressed them, ”또 만나요” The word made Japanese student a little confused. Because in Japanese "Tomannayo" means "Don't stop." or "Don't stay." But in Korean it means "See you again!"
I hope these 2days in Fukiai High School was very good for them. I'm looking forward to see them again ,tomorrow.
